And HOWARD THE LEGEND CHAKIN of BLACK KISS and AVENGERS 1959 fame…

So you can be sure we're going to have lots of square jaws, smokey scenes and comb-overs…

Which we are willing to bet will work perfectly on a book set in the murky world of a 40's TV studio…

Throw in the SEX!, DEATH! LIVE TV!...

This first book is going to focus on the first meeting between the two big hitters of the DC UNIVERSE…

Placed around the same time as Morrison's ACTION COMICS #1…

We're willing to wager that this book is going to be a big ol' Buddy comic team-up hit…

With the chalk and cheese characters playing off against each other...

We've got the inherantly good SUPERMAN and the bad to the bone BATMAN...

It's going to be AWESOME!!!...

YOU'LL DIE IF YOU MISS IT...

It's ZOMBIES VS VAMPIRES VS HUMANS and it's by MAX BROOKS!!!... 

Yes folks the guy who's billed as one of the founders of the zombie renaissance, Max Brooks has sold millions of books...

He's the guy who penned The Zombie Survival Guide which really started the whole zombie prep subculture, it's graphic novel companion Recorded Attacks debuted as #1 on the New Times Bestseller list...

He followed that up with WORLD WAR Z adapted by Brad Pitt into what is sure to be one of the biggest blockbuster movies of 2013....

And now he's coming back to comics, aided on the arts front by another guy who's no stranger to crazy cannibals from his work on CROSSED, the very talented Mr Raulo Caceres.... 

EXTINCTION PARADE #1 is not just about ZOMBIES though...

While it is the undead Zombie herds that are wiping out humanity, it seems the humans might just have an unlikely ally... 

VAMPIRES!!! Yep the bloodsuckers are worried the ZOMBIES are going to wipe out their food supply...

Which tee's it all up nicely for one massive gore filled fight fest!!!...

A HERO FOR NOW...

The wait is over folks and the BIG BLUE BOYSCOUT IS BACK!!!... 

Okay so he's never really been away...

It's just that this time we think this is going to be a SUPERMAN comic that actually makes the character pertinent again...

You see the Frog Bros have always been fans of Sup (How could we not be?)...

But even we have to admit that the character is a hero for a bygone age, just too good, too nice and a character that really works when in the JUSTICE LEAGUE with the other flawed members to work off... 

In fact... Sorry needed a pause before putting this out there...

Apart from the GROUNDED storyline by J. Micheal Straczynski and RED SON by MARK MILLAR, there really hasn't been many good Sup reads over the last few years... 

Even the great GRANT MORRISON couldn't buck the trend on the NEW52's ACTION COMICS...

We're willing to bet that's all about to change...

How can it not with SCOTT SNYDER and JIM LEE getting together for SUPERMAN UNCHAINED #1?...

If these guys can't breath some new life into the MAN OF STEEL then for me it's time to hang up the red pants...

And so just in time for KICK ASS 2 hitting the silver screen...

We have KICK ASS 3 #1 (of 8) hitting the massively more important FROG shelves...

Yes folks this week we get re-introduced to, what are for me, two of the better comic book characters from the last few years, KICK ASS and HIT GIRL...

It's the comic gods of MARK MILLAR and JOHN ROMITA JNR teaming up for the last time on this sure fire hit... 

So we left off with HIT GIRL being put in the clink... 

And that's exactly where this one jumps off... 

With KICK ASS the leader of JUSTICE FOREVER, leading a jail break...

When he's already a costumed hero that's been outlawed after the big old smack down from KICK ASS 2...

Is he now in too deep?...

And there's no doubt it's going to be AWESOME... 

Why are we so sure WAKE #1 is going to so so good?...

The last time these two comic book thoroughbreds from the DC and VERTIGO stables got together we were treated to AMERICAN VAMPIRE: SURVIVAL OF THE FITTEST, a beautiful book that added so much to the amazingly sprawling AMERICAN VAMPIRE world built by SNYDER and RAFAEL ALBUQUERQUE...

Since then, although AM VAM's taken a hiatus SNYDER has continued to knock BATMAN out of the park and has been prepping SUPERMAN UNCHAINED with JIM LEE (We cannot even start to convey how excited we are about this book's release in a couple of weeks)... 

And SEAN MURPHY completed his brilliant PUNK ROCK JESUS, which is even more awesome when you think the guy did all the writing, drawing... Hell I bet he even wrote the theme tune, sang the theme tune... 

But back to the pressing matter of what is WAKE all about?... 

It's billed as a sci-fi/horror epic that explores the horrors of the deep, probes the origins of human history, and leaps far beyond to a frightening future...

And with these two at the helm, who's betting against it being a hit?...

Not us!!!...

TANK GIRL… SOLID...

SHE'S BACK... 

Yes people this week we're getting excited about SOLID STATE TANK GIRL #1...

Which for those of you who don't know is pretty much the nearest thing to punk rock comics you can get...

The original, created by Alan Martin and Jamie Hewlett, Hewlett went on to find fame as the birther to the GORILLAZ...

Martin's stuck around and has continued to pen the great puerile delights of TANK GIRL... 

So what's the plot?... 

Who cares! It's a TANK GIRL comic! We don't read these things for the plot... 

Oh no dear reader you read these for gross out puerile humur mixed with punk rock crazy art work...

And who's stepping up to the arts plate?...

Warwick Johnson-Cadwell, not heard of him? Don't feel bad folks, he's a newcomer to the block, but has a crazy art style that we're willing to bet it is going to match the TANK GIRL character brilliantly...

So if you want to try summit a bit different, try this...

The art is by a newcomer but if the leaked pages are anything to go by, this kid's going to be around for a long long time, welcome Konstantin Novosadov... 

So what's DREAM MERCHANT #1 (OF 6) all about?... 

It's a twisted sci-fi tale that follows a troubled mental patient who suffers from bizarre recurring nightmare...

When he discovers its true meaning, the world will literally change...

And we think it looks really, really good, check out a sneak peak here...

At least that's what we're told CHIN MUSIC means - Too much Yackin and not enough Scrappin'...

Well it's a horror comic and they seem to rock you guys and gals' boats... And it's written by the guy who is touted as the man who brought this genre of comic back to the fore... STEVE NILES!!!...

Yep, the same and very Steve Niles of 30 DAYS OF NIGHT fame...

Throw in TONY HARRIS the pencil wielder from EX MACHINA and you can see why we're backing this one...

So what's CHIN MUSIC #1 all about?...

Well as far as we can tell it's about a time travelling gangster who's being hunted by a cast of demonic beings...

Oh and it also features Elliot Ness AND Al Capone...

I CANNOT WAIT for this one!...

Finally the book billed as 'the superhero epic that all future comics will be measured by' hits the FROG shelves!!!...

Granted this was probably written by Mark Millar himself and obviously he's no shrinking violet but still this is a book worth getting excited about JUPITERS LEGACY #1...

Well it's being trumpeted as a sprawling epic to rival STAR WARS and the LORD OF THE RINGS with a cast of hundreds that spans generations...

And it's by the Superstar team of Mark Millar and Frank Quitley...

Yes dear reader you did just read that correctly Mark Millar of KICK ASS, AMERICAN JESUS and CIVIL WAR fame...

And FRANK QUITLEY one of the FROG BROS very favourite artists who's pen has graced such beautiful books as WE3, BATMAN AND ROBIN and ALL STAR SUPERMAN...

These 2 working together on a huge story like JUPITERS LEGACY...

Of course we're going to get excited! We are even believing the strap line!!!...

All painted in beautiful water colour, his porky FLASH is a personal favourite...

Each issue from the series is to be based around a holiday and the first on Halloween...
Well it had to be... It is a BATMAN book!!!...

And it's the only day the Super-Villains can go out and blend in... There's a great scene of them all hanging out having dinner...

BATMAN LI'L GOTHAM is for me the comics equivalent to TOY STORY, sure it's a great title for kids but also has enough nods and just over their heads humour to keep us older fans of the funny books loving it too...

And then there's the art... AMAZING!!!...

The HELLBLAZER is dead...

Long live the HELLRAISER...

Sure it was sad that after 300 issues and 20 odd years VERTIGO decided to end their longest running monthly title HELLBLAZER...

But how great is it that JOHN CONSTANTINE is coming back this week in his own ongoing series as part of the NEW52 in CONSTANTINE #1?..

This new title gives new readers a perfect jumping on point to a character that perhaps in the HELLBLAZER title had become a little inaccessible...

And OH what a character he his! Magician, occult detective, con man, womaniser, heavy smoker and hard drinker...

Operating in the 'dark' corners of the 52 CONSTANTINE's John Constantine in will be a younger version than the 50 something grizzled magician of HELLBLAZER...

But he'll still have all his wit and silver tongue, words are this guys weapons and I for one can't wait to see how the writing team on this one are going to use them...

Who are the lucky folks working on this title? ...

Writers Jeff Lemire and Ray Fawkes will be joined by Renato Guedes on arts...

Now he's one of their best sellers who's sprung up loads of universes...

And then there's AQUAMAN, who before the reboot and birth of the NEW52 if you heard his name it was usually followed by 'SUCKS'...

Now, one of the best comics and best sellers from the 52, GEOFF JOHNS is pretty much credited with doing it all...

Throw in DAVID FINCH's art (don't worry he's not writing this one so deadlines should be hit!) and we're willing to bet we've got a winner!...

PREPPING FOR THE JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA...

The third BIRD OF PREY and fully paid up member of the up-coming JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA gets her own ongoing series...

And ooh it looks good...

Now you might be thinking that a lot of the second and third 'waves' of NEW52 titles released by DC haven't really set the world on fire...

And if we're honest the FROG BROS would have to agree with you...

So what's different about KATANA #1 that's going to make us part with our hard earned?..

Let us tell you dear comic reader...

DC are putting a whole lot of time and effort into the JUSTICE LEAGUE OF AMERICA, having changed up creative teams on members books that weren't doing too well and drafting in the creative team of GEOFF JOHNS and DAVID FINCH...

It stands to reason that the same effort will be put into the titles that are spinning right out of it, like KATANA #1...

The book will be written by Ann Nocenti and drawn by Alex Sanchez, whilst NOCENTI may have picked up some flack for her recent run on GREEN ARROW she's still got a strong portfolio of enough awesome stories behind her to make us think she'll rock this book and the art by SANCHEZ looks simply stunning...

Kicking off with Valkyrie the sword wielding, flying horse riding Asgardian and the bionic armed detective Misty Knight, Valkyrie's been charged with putting together a new team of VALKYRIOR...

And she's got to do it using only the women of Midgard...

Writer CULLEN BUNN and artist WILL SLINEY are going to be adding to the roster as the weeks go by...

BUNN who you may remember was the scribe on FEAR ITSELF THE FEARLESS also starring VALKYRIE is taking his time to build the team and has stated that even after the first arc the team won't be formed completely...

So out goes MATT FRACTION's DEFENDERS that finished all too prematurely on issue #12...

And so starts the FEARLESS DEFENDERS...

Mixing the warriors from Midgard and Asgard, this FROG BRO thinks it's going to be one of the unexpected hits from MARVEL NOW!...
